Boris Johnson accused of ‘cronyism’ for giving peerages to brother and other supporters

The Lord Speaker has criticised Boris Johnson for giving ‘peerages’ to a 36 people.

He accused the Prime Minister of cronyism after the PM’s brother was appointed.

A number of Brexit backers, Brexit backers and his chief strateghic advister all made the list as well as former PM Theresa May’s husband Philip May.

Evgeny Lebedev, owner of the London Evening Standard, becomes a peer, as does Charles Moore, former Daily Telegraph editor and biographer of ex-Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Generally newspapers more supportive of the PM’s party.
