Norwegian Air Shuttle cancels 97 plane orders with Boeing

June 30, 2020

Low-cost carrier Norwegian Air Shuttle has cancelled its 97 outstanding orders for planes from US manufacturer Boeing. In a statement, the Oslo-based company also said it had filed a legal claim seeking the return of payments made for the aircrafts, and it wants compensation for losses it claims it incurred from the global grounding of the 737 Max planes, as well as engine issues on the 787.

The 737 Max has been grounded around the world since March last year following two deadly crashes, which killed hundreds of people. This week, it was reported the Federal Aviation Administration said test flights have been approved to begin from Monday.
