tik tokkers are asking followers to instead head to instagram and youtube after a statement released from the country says the apps were dangerous and "prejudicial to sovereignty and the integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order”.
The popular WeChat app was also in the 59 going into black out - which follows the heightening of tensions along the disputed border between the two countries.
China sent out more troops to the Ladakh region in June which follows the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers at the contentious Indo-Chinese border last week. and the move to remove access to chinese apps mirrors a wave of nationalist anti-China sentiment pumping through many Indian communities.
