Donald Trump has paid tribute to Herman Cain, former GOP presidential candidate, who has died of complications from coronavirus at age 74
The President offered his condolences in a tweet and said he had spoken by telephone to Cain’s family.
He later started a press conference saying Mr Cain was a very special person who had passed away from the 'China virus.'
Mr Cain passed away on Thursday in Atlanta after being ill with the virus for several weeks.
He was hospitalized less than two weeks after attending Mr Trump's campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on June 20.
Mr Cain, who was the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza Chain, had been co-chair of the group Black Voices for Trump.
