Coronavirus: ‘Covid-19 has taken a very swift and very dangerous turn in Texas’ – says state Governor
Texas Governor Gregg Abbott has said "Covid-19 has taken a very swift and very dangerous turn" in the US state. On Friday, Mr Abbott again shut down bars and limited restaurant dining, a day after Texas reported a record high of almost 6,000 confirmed cases. He also banned elective surgeries in the state's largest counties. Around a quarter of all coronavirus deaths worldwide have been reported in America. Globally, more than half a million people have now died with Covid-19, according to the Johns Hopkins University, which is tracking the virus.
