Boris Johnson postpones latest lockdown easing including bigger weddings and reopening of indoor theatres
Boris Johnson has delayed the latest relaxation of the coronavirus lockdown.
The relaxation included allowing small wedding receptions of up to 30 people and the reopening of bowling alleys and casinos.
The Prime Minister said it had been postponed for at least two weeks, until August 15.
“I know that the steps we are taking will be a real blow to many people, to everyone whose wedding plans have been disrupted or who cannot now celebrate Eid in the way that they would wish.”
Mr Johnson said coronavirus cases in the UK were creeping up and the government’s assessment of the situation was to postpone an easing of restrictions.
