A two year old girl has died after her mother left her in a hot car while she went drinking with a friend.
June Love Agosto was locked in the sweltering vehicle while hidden under a blanket.
The mother, who hasn’t yet been named, returned to her car five hours later to find her daughter covered in vomit and burns.
A coroner has ruled the accident, in Torrance, California, was an accident, but the women is still in police custody.

Dame Helen Mirren says "democracy is under attack" in the current political climate.
The British Actress, who is preparing to launch her new show, Catherine the Great, in the UK, says she finds the treatment of women in parts of America "terrifying", but that the current climate is giving people a reason to wake up and take action.
Speaking to Sky News, the actress said it’s important for people in her position to "speak out" on issues that affect the wider general public.

The Fashion retailer, Forever 21, has filed for bankruptcy protection in the US.
The company also says it plans to close up to 178 stores across the country, as well as close most of its operations in Europe and Asia.
The company joins a growing list of retailers who have struggled to cope with competition from online rivals such as Amazon.

The US State of Montana has declared a state of emergency after a storm dumped as much as two feet of snow.
The unseasonable weather has caused power cuts and dangerous driving conditions, with the neighboring states of Idaho and Washington have also been affected.
Governor Steve Bullock said ‘Montanans should heed warnings from State officials, and be cautious during this time.'

A US military base has been attacked in Somalia.
Local residents have reported hearing gunfire and loud blasts at Baledogle airport in the south of the country, around 100 miles from the capital Mogadishu.
The Al-Shabaab militant group has claimed responsibility, and said it used a car bomb to blast through the gates before sending fighters inside.
So far there are no reports of any deaths.
The Italian defense ministry has also released a statement saying that in a separate attack in the country’s capital, an Italian security convoy, which was guarding a team of EU military personnel, was also attacked.

Eight alleged neo-Nazis have gone on trial in Dresden, eastern Germany, accused of plotting terror attacks.
The group had allegedly planned a deadly attack for German’s national day last year in the capital city Berlin.
They are all believed to be members of the far-right scene in Chemnitz, a city where far-right protests were held last year after a German man was fatally stabbed.

Authorities in Sri Lanka have begun an investigation after 7 elephants were found dead last week in what is suspected to have been a poisoning.
All of the elephants were females from the same heard and one had been pregnant at the time.
Killing wild elephants in Sri Lanka is an offence punishable by death, but there have been regular reports of angry villagers poisoning or shooting them.

Three of four inmates who escaped from the Gallia County Jail in Ohio early on Sunday have been recaptured.
County Sheriff Matt Champlin said Sunday that the inmates overpowered two female corrections officers with a homemade weapon and made their escape just after midnight.

Boris Johnson could be removed as Prime Minister by the Queen if he tries to push through a No-Deal Brexit on the 31st October – according to one British politician.
In an interview with Sky News, British MP Dominic Grieve said that, if Boris Johnson ignores a law passed by Parliament which requires him to ask the EU for an extension to the Brexit deadline if there is no deal by Halloween then the Queen could dismiss him as PM for breaking the law;
Dominic Grieve was one of 21 MPs from Boris Johnson’s Conservative Party who had been punished by the Prime Minister for voting to block No-Deal Brexit.
Boris Johnson has insisted on multiple occasions that Britain will stick to the October deadline.

Germany’s first class action lawsuit is being heard in the city of Braunschweig. Owners of some Volkswagen vehicles say that they are owed money after the carmaker was found to have cheated emissions tests four years ago.
More than 400,000 customers are asking for compensation. The action could last years – and is expected to answer whether V-W caused harm by acting dishonestly.
VW lawyers deny their customers suffered harm.
